Welcome to the Official Adoption Center!

Here on Vive, we've always allowed characters to be put up for adoption in the case that their previous owner can't play them well and doesn't want to let them sit and gather dust. Recently, the mod team has come to the decision to make these donations an official operation; which should, ideally, streamline the process and make it easier for newcomers to be able to find these donated characters.

What is the function of this thread?

This thread allows these donations, as well as transfers between members, to take place in an official setting. Now that characters up for adoption aren't scattered across the general boards, and now that mods don't have to be PM'd to be told about gifts, it should be easier for these transfers to take place. It also gives new players a single location to look, should they want to start with a donated character.

Are all characters eligible for adoption?

Not quite. In order to make sure people aren't creating characters and instantly donating them, in turn clogging up the adoption center and making it harder for other characters to get adopted, we've instated some rules regarding character donations and transfers. For a character to be eligible for adoption, they must:

1. Have been in at least one(1) thread, including their birthing and/or pools/pods thread. This ensures that the character was, in fact, living on the site before they're donated or transferred. The only exception to this rule is if you've applied at least one marking or mutation to a character who is Generation One. Said character must still abide by rule #2.

2. Have been owned by their donator for a minimum of two(2) real-world months prior to donation or transfer. This ensures that the thread doesn't get clogged with a bunch of characters that were created within a week prior to their adoption because their owners had filled their slots and had a new idea.

My character is eligible for donation. How can I donate them?

In the post below this one, there are three templates that you can use. The first template is for donations, where you give the character to the site and the site then puts them up for adoption. The second template is for adoptions, where you're adopting a character who has been made available to the public. The third template is for transfers, where you're giving a character to another specific user as previously agreed upon.

In order to complete any of these actions, you must fill out the respective template and reply to this thread with the filled template. Character transfers that happen outside of this thread will not be considered valid, and will be asked to go through the proper channels(which is here).

If you are performing multiple of these actions at once, please only use a maximum of three replies; one for each potential action. Keep similar actions grouped together: If you're donating three characters and gifting one, you should post two(2) replies: One with the three filled donated characters and one with the filled gifted character.

Gifts must be confirmed by both parties before they go through.

Will characters sit here forever?

I'm afraid not. After 2 in-game years(1 real-world year) has passed without the character being adopted, they will be considered a dead character. These characters will be acknowledged in the next season's announcements post, but will officially be taken off of Vive forever. While we wish that every character was able to find a forever-home, we acknowledge that not all of them can.

If you are interested in trying to 'save' characters on the verge of being killed between owners, there is some good news for you! We are going to be gathering a pinglist of users who may be able to adopt a character in their last seasons within the center. Should you want to be added to this pinglist, which will be detailed in a spoiler tag below, simply post on this thread with something along the lines of 'ping me', and you will be added. The pinglist will be pinged two in-game seasons prior to the character's on-site death.

How often can I adopt or donate a character?

As of right now, there is no limit on how often you may use this thread! If this is abused in the future, we may implement a limit, but for now you're free to adopt or donate as many characters as you'd like. We do ask, however, that you wait for your previous actions to be processed before you reply to this thread with another set of options [IE: If you want to donate a character, check that your last donation has already been processed before doing so].

I want to adopt a character. What do I put for the character password?

Character passwords can be found under the spoiler tag that details the character's information. These are used to ensure that you have read a character's plots and know who to contact to continue them, should you wish to do so! If the adopted character is a gift from somebody else, then you may merely state 'N/A' in that spot on the template.

How do I know my action has been processed?

When your action has been processed, your replies to this thread will be deleted and you will recieve a ping from this thread informing you that your action has been processed.

While we appreciate the freedom of previous character transfers, we also feel that it will be easier for adopted characters' plots to carry over to their new owners if there's a clear depiction of what their plots are and how one can find more information on said plots. As such, we have decided to standardize the way characters are donated and displayed in this thread.

Plot Summary: As far as I remember, he didn't have much of one beyond staying near his brother and maybe expanding his botanical aspirations. He really wanted a Storm Lily, and Spotface was going to try to go get him one and get hurt, I believe, in terms of short-term plot.

Yetti quite enjoys the cold as he enjoys staying in closed spaces to keep warm. He is a soft spoken fur and often choosing to be mute unless he is pressured into speaking and even then he'll be a fur of few words. He is also a sensitive one and doesn't take things lightly. All in all he just wants to live in his own life with no one else butting in.

She is very brave, even if not curious at all, and will do whatever she can to help others. Just don't expect her to be pressured into exploring a dark cave or something. She is not a leader by any means and if put in a situation where she would have to be in charge, she mostly falls apart and may start crying. Maryena does have an interest in wood carving, though, and enjoys creating art by using her hooves to kick away bark and chips of wood right off of tree trunks.

He's much too shy to make any friends, but when he does, he sticks to their side like a burr on fur. The only thing that would get him off of their side would be someone or something new.

Purpuro worries a lot. If he had recently fled from a friend, he will dwell and worry about them for days or weeks. He never seems to be at peace, even when he's perfectly happy.

This fur will always have fun when playing, and if she's playing in the water that's just a fun bonus! As she's aged, she's grown an appreciation for healing others. While much of her world still revolves around having fun, she now spends just as much time working on helping the Viamazons with injuries and illness, so that nobody in the group has to encounter death ever again.

Personality Summary: Spotface is a troublesome fur, always jumping to create one prank or another. Deep down, however, he really is just a big fluffball of sweetheartness. Nobody hurts his family-- especially his sibling --without seriously paying for it. Even where he'd rather just talk things out, if Spotface needs to he knows how to use his horn to a dangerous extent.
Plot Summary: Sticking near his brother; though there was a plot where he was going to retrieve a storm lily for his brother Backstripe and get hurt in some way.

Personality Summary: Tikaso is not ever going to be the Romeo to a Juliet, nor will he be the hero of any story. He loves to listen to and tell stories, don't get me wrong. But he never particularly liked nasty little heroes. Instead, he prefers to look up to villains. It's become a game; trying to find the redeemable qualities in every villain and use those himself. Tikaso's life goal is to become the villain in a story, but not one of those really REALLY nasty villains. One of those nice villains, with a good motive, the ones who from their perspective are doing the truly right thing for the good of the people.

While Tikaso tries to be villainous, he's also probably the most gentle and caring fur there is. He tries so hard to be antagonistic, while still managing to somehow become a sort of protagonist. His nature won't let him leave anyone injured or scared-- not when he can easily calm them down. Once he begins trying to calm someone down, he will not be dissuaded until that creature is either calm or entirely exhausted. The same goes for protecting his family and friends-- nothing will stop him from setting up defensive measures for his family. And that means nothing.

Personality Summary: Kendrick is pretty much the happiest he could ever be. He doesn't have the brain capacity to be anything BUT happy-- why should he? There's NOTHING he could ever be upset about! Everything is good! He loves pretty much everyone in the world. Nobody ever seems to do anything wrong, so why not absolutely fawn over their every word? Clearly they cannot do any wrong. Kendrick is always happy to dole out his trust for anybody. Even when they insult him. He takes all insults as straightforward compliments!

Kendrick believes in Kuu to the fullest of his ability, and will always be ready to sit down and rave about Kuu with his brother. The brightest stars in his life are his family, especially Sam. Kendrick will try to get Copper to talk to him and try to befriend him, and most likely not do the best job of it, but hey. At least he's trying. The only one that Cadet will ever cry for. When Tsuaan dies, if he dies first, Cadet will lay down next to his body and slowly die next to him, so their souls can be recombined once more. Summary of Personality: Maaru is as lazy has you can get. Sometimes he is too lazy to even talk, instead settling on grunts and chirps. Along with this laziness comes him being laid back. It takes a lot to anger him, but once he is set off, you better watch out. Because he is usually so chill, the explosiveness of his anger is often shocking. Maaru will stomp on your face until you are dust if you aren't careful. Though it may seem like he doesn't care, Maaru deeply values his friendships. He does a lot in the background to make sure that his friends are getting the best they can, and of course, when he is found out he shrugs it off as though it was nothing.

Yetti quite enjoys the cold as he enjoys staying in closed spaces to keep warm. He is a soft spoken fur and often choosing to be mute unless he is pressured into speaking and even then he'll be a fur of few words. He is also a sensitive one and doesn't take things lightly. Summary of Personality: Fluffston is... pretty serious feather despite his given name. There's no fooling around when it comes to him and he won't take likely to "We're just fooling around." and he'll definitely blow a fuse if anyone ever tells him that he needs to calm down. He will become very intense and will disregard any means of personal space and he will hammer you down. All in all, its best that you listen to what he needs to say and keep all side remarks to yourself.

Fluffston can be a bit boastful (and just an air head in general) to the point that he can become irritated if one does not show enough interest or doesn't notice when he wants them to. Whenever he wants attention he'll do whatever it takes to get it, be it interrupting one's work or simply butting in on a conversation.

All of this tends to wear him down and will go through a sort of resting period of where he is less impulsive and more calm in a sense. This is when he is most approachable and less likely to judge the way you breathe.

Summary of Personality: This small fur is a chronic liar, at least in that she exaggerates a great deal. The whole truth is something that seems to allude her, but she is honestly very kind and doesn't intentionally say things to hurt people. She is very brave, even if not curious at all, and will do whatever she can to help others. Just don't expect her to be pressured into exploring a dark cave or something. She is not a leader by any means and if put in a situation where she would have to be in charge, she mostly falls apart and may start crying. Maryena does have an interest in wood carving, though, and enjoys creating art by using her hooves to kick away bark and chips of wood right off of tree trunks.

Summary of Personality: Dan-Shiv mostly takes after his mother, finding perfection in himself and wanting nothing more than to let everyone else know how fantastic he (and dear Mama) is. He does not trust others, but he does make it a point to treat everyone with some respect. Do not expect him to understand why you're crying or anxious, he has little to know empathy in his bones. He's generally logical enough to grasp reasons given, even if he'll think you're wasting your time letting your emotions rule you. Despite that thought, he himself is horrific at controlling his emotions and his mood can go from delighted to foul in ten seconds flat.

This is a feather who hardly knows personal boundaries. He's flirtatious, romantic, and affectionate. Compliments fly when this one is in the area. However, he is anything but loyal. Don't expect him to back you up in a fight unless they insulted his feet. Dan is a curious creature, loving to explore and go out of his way to find new things, even if that seems dangerous.

Summary of Personality: This young scale is very much an introvert, preferring to stick by herself nearly all the time. However, she is a good leader and very optimistic when the necessity comes. She is brave, but not careless. Chiao is very hard to anger, keeping her calm in most any situation and she has a very open mind. She is dependable, honest, and at times quite funny. Chiao's one major drawback is she is greedy. If she wants something badly enough, she will take it. At times, this takes some long-term planning and sometimes requires her to take advantage of others, but she stays honest and rarely lies, even if that is the easiest way to get what she wishes.

Summary of Personality: Very much the opposite of her father, this girl is an introvert. She is very patient and although she is quite emotional, she tends to keep her emotions to herself. Rather than crying in front of someone who hurt her, she'll brush things off in the moment and wallow in it later. She is generally very happy, easy-going, and she is honest to a fault at times. She is, however, quite unreliable and also quite stubborn. She's actually quite self-conscious about not having a tail and hopes to one day gain one.
