Welcome to Vive!
We are a community and are happy to have you, whether you’ve already started these steps before finding this guide or whether you are reading everything first. All we really hope is that you enjoy your time here!
Here is a list of what should be done mixed with some suggestions to make your stay with us as easy to understand and to leave you with the least amount of confusion as possible!
- Please be sure to read our Rules first. Many of them are generic and what you might already expect, but we still ask that you take a peek to make sure (plus, there’s some special information there about mutations!).
- Making an account is certainly important so let’s make sure to get that done now! Press the Register button, fill out all the relevant information, and activate your account through your email.
- Consider joining our Discord! That is where we do our plotting and chatting for the most part. Once you’ve decided on this, either introduce yourself there in our #introduce_yourself channel OR we do have the Introductions and Conclusions board. Feel free to do both, too!
- Next it’s character time! There are two ways one can obtain a new character. First and most easily accessible is to go to the Start from Scratch board. There is a stickied thread in that board to better explain the process of claiming a first generation character this way. Your second option is to check and see if there are any available offspring in the Breeding Board. Please be aware that there is very important information in the rules and in the stickied thread within the Breeding Board itself that you must be aware of before attempting to claim offspring. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. We’re here to help and make this fun for all! In both instances, you will have to wait for a staff member to review and accept your character before proceeding. This shouldn’t take long at all, but please try to be patient with us.
- Once your character is accepted, it’s time to create your Character Log! There is a stickied thread there to help you figure out what to include, but I’d also like to give a bit of information here. The title of your thread should include your OOC name or a nickname of some kind. This will be where all of your characters will be stored, not just your first one. Feel free to look at the titles of other members’ logs for unique inspiration on how to title your own log!
- FINALLY, it’s time to RP. We know the process of getting started on a roleplay site is often very arduous but now that you’re here, things get pretty simple.
- If you have claimed a generation one Vivian from the Start from Scratch board, you will have instructions in your acceptance post (at least, for your first character) that will let you know whether you can create a thread or whether there is already one created to join. If you have chosen a yellow, blue, or red Vivian, your first thread will be a “Wave” and you will start in The Colour Pools! If you chose a green, purple, or orange Vivian, you will be in a “Sprout” and start at The Blooming Tree. Waves and Sprouts are where fresh new Vivians come to be, either by emerging from pools of colored water or by hatching out of buds within the tree. This may sound strange to start, but they are all created in these spaces so they may get used to the world, themselves, and others like them before dealing with everything life has to offer. There are guides that will help the new Vivians get used to their voice and talking as well as answer any questions they may drum up.
- If you adopted an offspring from the Breeding Board, you should converse with your character’s parents in regards to a birth thread.
- Regardless of which of the above options you chose, once you finish the Wave, Sprout, or birth, you are free to RP wherever. Do try to keep in mind a young Vivian is not terribly likely to wander very far from home for a few seasons. You are welcome to create an open thread (or join a pre-existing one, even!), but it is highly suggested that you try planning something out with another member, through the Plotting! board or the #plotting channel of the Discord.
- One of the most exciting parts of Vive for many members is earning points! Why are points exciting, you may ask? Well… on their own, they’re not. You gain one (1) point per IC (in character) post. Once you earn enough, however, you can buy changes for your Vivian from the Shops! Quite a few markings are quite inexpensive.
- We have what are known as “Kingdoms”. They are groups of Vivians, not necessarily a monarchy or anything of the sort. Asking about these groups in the Discord (they have their own channel each) or in Plotting! could be fun if your character likes a group’s ideals.
- Last but certainly not least, we hope you have fun! Any questions at all, we are happy to answer and make this a great experience for everyone.
